Audi is presenting a revolution in the top class at the Detroit Auto Show 2008 âââ€Å¡Ã‚¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ the first 12-cylinder diesel engine in a high-performance roadgoing sports car. The V12 TDI with a displacement of six liters powers a concept car based on the Audi R8.
This unit generates a huge 500 hp and 1,000 Newton-meters (737.56 lb-ft) of torque. Audi is writing a new chapter in diesel technology with this power unit. Equipped with the expertise that Audi has built up through its motor sport activities, the R8 V12 TDI in matt "Grace Silver" embodies superb road handling, pioneering technology and fascinating design.

The V12 TDI is closely related to the engine in the Audi R10, the two-time Le Mans winner âââ€Å¡Ã‚¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ so it catapults the Audi R8 into supercar terrain concerning performance too. It sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in just 4.2 seconds and its top speed is well over 300 km/h (186.41 mph). The peak torque, reached at only 1,750 rpm, paves the way for effortless acceleration that is unrivaled even at this level.

The new V12 TDI belongs to Audi's family of V engines but has the ideal included angle for this engine type of 60 degrees between cylinder banks. Its highlights include the new chain drive layout that includes the two newly developed high-pressure pumps for the common rail injection system.

Its sound is as thrilling as you'd expect in a sports car of this caliber. For all the subtle smoothness that typifies this design principle, the twelve-cylinder unit is full-bodied and equipped with energetic overtones that make no secret of its performance potential.

Bei strömendem Regen und etlichen Stunden mit Saftycar-Phasen endete das 24 Stunden Rennen von Dubai.

Für das Team von CR-8 war es ein stressiges Rennen, wegen dem Ärger mit dem Getriebe und dem langen Aufenthalt in der Box.
Aber die Erwartungen des Teamchefs wurden erfüllt, nämlich den R8 über die Ziellinie zu bringen.

Kurz vor dem Rennen wurden ja noch Optimierungen in den Niederlande beim Getriebe gemacht. Wie ich finde, eine Top-Leistung vom Team CR-8.

Von meiner Seite her die besten Glückwünsche !!!!

Endplatzierung:
Der R8 kam in der Gesamtwertung auf den Platz 81. Die Platzierung in seiner Klasse SP2 ist Rang 2.
Er absolvierte insgesamt 113 Runden bei einer Boxenstandzeit von etwas 18 Stunden.
Die beste Rundenzeit betrug 2:15:849 Minuten

Etwas OffTopic, aber für die Freunde von Oettinger sehr intressant.
Der VW Golf V R-TDI vom Team Oettinger RSR, sicherte sich in der Gesamtwertung den 32.Platz, und innerhalb seiner Klasse D1 den 5.Rang. Er war 1:31:50 Std in der Box, die schnellste Runde fuhr er in 2:26:092 Minuten. Insgesamt spulte er 432 Runden in den 24 Std von Dubai herunter.

Auch hier Gratulation an das Team RSR und Oettinger Performance in Friedrichsdorf.

Kleine Zwischenbilanz.

Der Audi R8 liegt leider mit Getriebeschaden in der Box

Unfortunately the Audi CR-8 is in the pit box. Cor Euser had a good stint:"The balance of the car was perfect, I could drive very constantly, without any problem. Unfortunately at the tank stop I stalled the engine, but after refuelling I could not restart the engine again. Due to the electronics, the gearbox was locked in first gear."

In the meantime the car has been pushed back to the pits. The team found out that they missed an important software update for the gearbox, which would have avoided this problem.
At the moment someone from Audi Dubai is on the way with a tester to see if the problem can be solved. Every team would like to see the goodlooking CR-8 back on the track.
